Munar Turns Around the Match with Ymer
07.06.2018 16:09:37 | Ymer lost his serve at 2:2 for the first time but immediately won it back from Munar. It turned out to be the Spaniard’s last chance in the opening set. Ymer kept the lead and won the set 6:3. The Swede started the second set in a victorious mood but tenacious and accurate Munar did not give him any more chances. The Spaniard won 6:1 after forty minutes and levelled the sets. He won the third set with the same score. Honestly, Munar was not expected to reach the quarter finals by many.

Melzer Expertly Advances to the Semis
07.06.2018 13:22:03 | Austrian Gerald Melzer (111th ATP) fought for the first place in the semis against Italian Caruso (228th ATP). The match saw many long and patient rallies from the very beginning. Those who thought that Melzer would have the upper hand were wrong. The Italian was very tough but the Austrian’s time came after fifty minutes even though Italian’s double fault helped him. Melzer won 6:4.

Pavlásek’s Ankle Makes the Last Czech Hope Come to Nothing
07.06.2018 13:10:53 | Three matches on the Centre Court and one on Court No. 1 on Wednesday decided that MONETA Czech Open would not see Czech players in singles. Šafránek, Pavlásek, Kolář and Veselý lost their matches one after another. The couple Zdeněk Kolář and Adam Pavlásek were the last Czech hope in the doubles semi-finals. They were to meet two brothers Martin and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay. How did Kolář and Pavlásek advance among the last four couples?

Černošková: We Have to Get Used to No Czechs in Top Tennis
07.06.2018 10:09:42 | Petra Černošková had her traditional tournament director’s wish, but she knew very well it would hardly come true. “Considering that we are the largest Czech tournament, my wish is quite obvious: I would be very happy if our players stayed in the tournament as long as possible. We all know very well that matches featuring domestic players are most popular. I would appreciate a large crowd at the Centre Court and at least one Czech player in the final so that the winner’s cup stayed at home. However, looking at the draw and considering the current form of the defending champion Jiří Veselý, I know it’ll probably not come true,“ said the twentieth-time tournament director.

Elias Ymer: I Was Afraid of the Match with Veselý
06.06.2018 19:50:12 | Elias Ymer of Sweden defeated Veselý by playing an accurate and consistent game and prevented the Czech player from winning the Challenger in Prostějov for the fourth time and becoming the tournament record holder. “I was really hard to play against Veselý on his home court. I knew he had already won the tournament three times and I expected a tough match. Veselý really was a tough opponent. I had to try hard the entire match and I’m glad I won it,“ said Elias Ymer after the match.
