10.06.2023 12:21:05 | The first part of the last days programme of the UniCredit Czech Open belonged to an exhibition match featuring Tomá Berdych and Jakub Meník. The tennis legend spent almost twenty years in the Prostėjov club and the management wanted to thank him for his great representation. The crowded stalls accompanied the appreciation of thanks by long-lasting and repeated stormy applause.
"From the perspective of my career, I spent my best years in Prostėjov. I reached the world top ten during my time in the club. I used to come back from tournaments to Prostėjov to prepare for the next one. I will never forget it. It was a beautiful period of my life," said Berdych who defeated Menšín 3:2 and showed that he still has accurate shots and a sure hand. "There wasn't much time to prepare, but I tried to make it look good. It was enjoyable for both of us on the court and hopefully also for the crowd," Berdych said.
Menšík, for whom the former world number four used to be an idol, also enjoyed the exhibition. "It was a great experience for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t play Tomáš during his active career on tour, but this match was also very good for me and I’ll sure keep the memories for a long time," said Menšík.
