Aleš Sloupenský: We defeated Covid Last Year and Won This Year Too

21.06.2021 11:34:30 | A press briefing was traditionally held at the end of MONETA Czech Open. It featured Petra Černošková, MONETA Czech Open tournament director, Aleš Sloupenský, Retail Banking Manager of MONETA Money Bank, Ivo Kaderka, President of the Czech Tennis Association and Tennis Europe, and Miroslav Černošek, head of Prostějov Tennis Club.

“We defeated Covid Last Year and Won This Year Too.  Even though the tournament was held under difficult circumstances, the team headed by the perfect tournament director Petra Černošková coped with all difficulties with ease and deserves a big thank you. The only little flaw that prevented us from achieving maximum satisfaction was that no Czech player appeared in the final. On the other hand, we’re still in euphoria from Barbora Krejčíková’s great achievement at Roland Garros, which demonstrated the quality of Czech tennis,“ said Aleš Sloupenský. “A number of young Czechs got a chance to play at the tournament again, Jirka Veselý was the only older player. It’s very important for us: along with the Czech Tennis Association we try to support young tennis talents and provide them with as many opportunities as possible. Of course, we’re aware of the great competition in men’s tennis, but we believe that the young ones will make good use of the opportunities provided. We have chosen Sára Bejlek from girls and Tomáš Macháč from boys. The latter has already had experience with Grand Slams. We just want to believe that boys will be as successful as girls in the future,“ said the Retail Banking Manager of Moneta Money Bank.
