How Did Majchrzak Manage to Come Back into the Match?

11.09.2020 14:25:14 | The Czech talented player was not scared of his excellent opponent who had reached the 3rd round at US Open last year. Lehečka broke Kamil Majchrzak’s serve twice and even though he also lost his own once, it sufficed for him to win the first set. Let alone he closed it out with a straight game. Then the tables were turned. The more experienced Polish player changed the rhythm, played a few drop shots and quickly won five games in a row.

Then Lehečka won his first point in the second set but he could not stop the Pole from leveling the score at 1:1. In the final set Majchrzak first broke his opponent’s serve in the fifth game. He then confirmed it, closed the match and deservedly advanced to the MONETA Czech Open final.

How did Kamil Majchrzak manage to come back into the match from a set down? “It really was a hard match. Jiří played fantastically at the beginning. He got me under pressure and, as a result, I struggled problems with my serve. The opponent took advantage of it and won the first set. In the second one, I played my second serve more aggressively and tried to play long rallies. It worked and I kept the strategy till the end of the match. However, I have to say again it wasn’t an easy match.”

What did Majchrzak have to say about his eighteen-year-old opponent? “Jiří Lehečka is a very young player who’s just going up in the rankings. Many players will sure notice him after this tournament, because his game is on a very high level..

Majchrzak will either face Andujar of Spain or Travaglia of Italy. What does he expect from the match? “They are both great players from the top hundred and they both like to play long rallies. In any case I expect a tough match. I’m just going put my stuff in the hotel room and go to watch their match so that I can get my strategy ready for tomorrow’s final.”
