Will Jiří Lehečka Take Another Step Forward?

10.09.2020 10:17:39 | Wednesday saw eighteen-year-old Jiří Lehečka defeat Nikola Milojevič of Serbia, currently ranked ATP No. 145, in two sets and the winner advanced to the quarter finals of the Prostějov challenger for the first time. Today’s first match on the center court will see the Czech player up against the twenty-seven-year-old qualifier Filip Horanský who previously defeated Lukáš Rosol in the qualification and then Daniel of Japan in the round of sixteen. They have never played one another before…

“We practiced together before the tournament and we both know what to expect from one other. I don’t want to talk about the odds, but it’ll sure be a good match,” said Jiří Lehečka before the clash for the semis. Slovak tennis boasts the greatest number of representatives in the quarter-finals. Besides Filip Horanský, the candidates for joining the last four include Josef Kotalík who will challenge the top seed Pablo Andujar of Spain, and Martin Kližan vs. Stefano Travaglia of Italy. It means that the AGROFERT Arena will host three Slovaks today, one in each match. The fourth quarter-final duel will take place on court No. 1 and will feature Majchrzak of Poland against Alexandar Vikic of Australia who surprisingly defeated the second seeded Jiří Veselý.
