How did the top seed comment on the match? “I think it was a good match. I won 6:1, 6:1, but it doesn’t mean it was easy. I felt comfortable, many things went my way and I felt much better than yesterday. Maybe it wasn’t my opponent’s greatest day but I’m really satisfied with my performance. I’m also happy that the match was shorter than yesterday.”

You will meet Frederico Gaio of Italy in the next round. Do you have any experience with him? “I’ve never played him before. I have to admit he plays wonderful tennis here and he eliminated his opponent with ease today. I practised with him a few times and I know he can play tennis well. However, we are going to meet in a tournament for a first time and I expect a tough match.”

Who does Ruud consider the biggest favourite in the Prostějov tournament? ”The third-seeded Pablo Andujar has played very well so far. He’s been on the tour for years and has a lot of experience. He’s always been a difficult player. However, even the next match will be very hard. I’m playing a tough opponent and I have to be ready tomorrow.”
