The thirty-three year old Spaniard Guillermo Garcia Lopez has won five ATP tournaments. He played the quarter-final in Dauhá, Sydney and New York and he lost to Delbonis of Argentina at Roland Garros. In the second round he easily defeated Mohamed Maamoun of Egypt who had previously ousted Pavlásek. What did he say about the match?
“There aren’t easy opponents at this tournament. They all play very well. Mohamed played a very good match yesterday and I really had to concentrate and be focused very much. I didn’t want any surprise. The opponent played very well at the beginning. However, I broke his serve in the fourth game and eventually won the set. I played better in the second set: I broke his serve right at the beginning and kept the lead until the end of the set which I eventually won 6:2. But I really had to concentrate a lot.”
How does Garcia Lopez like Prostějov? “I haven’t had time to go downtown yet. I have only seen the hotel and the sports facilities. However, it seems to be a quite place and you can really tell the local people like tennis and know what is going on.”
