Pavlásek’s Ankle Makes the Last Czech Hope Come to Nothing

07.06.2018 13:10:53 | Three matches on the Centre Court and one on Court No. 1 on Wednesday decided that MONETA Czech Open would not see Czech players in singles. Šafránek, Pavlásek, Kolář and Veselý lost their matches one after another. The couple Zdeněk Kolář and Adam Pavlásek were the last Czech hope in the doubles semi-finals. They were to meet two brothers Martin and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay. How did Kolář and Pavlásek advance among the last four couples?

They beat Šafránek and Jaloviec in the first round and then Hsieh and Margaroli (TPE, Switzerland) in the second one. “I believe they’ll fight hard for the next round. It’d be great if Czech tennis was represented in the final,“ said the tournament director Petra Černošková. However, it did not hold true for very long. In the end, the Czech couple could not appear on the court because of Pavlásek’s injured ankle and the last Czech chance of success at MONETA Czech Open came to nothing…
