03.06.2008 19:42:50 | Tomas Berdych and Bohdan Ulihrach are the last two Czech players that remained in singles of the Prostejov tournament. Under the sliding roof of the Prostejov AGROFERT Arena Berdych defeated Italian player Vagnozzi. Under the same roof No2 seed Russian Andreiev made his move to another round too.
Michal Tabara, who had received a free card from the organizers, lost the tiebreak and finally the whole battle with Austrian Slanar which was a great pity with a view to the possible development of the tournament – in the second round there would have been local Prostejov derby Berdych / Tabara. Before the match at the press conference Tomas Berdych had said: “I firmly believe that Michal will win. We have trained a lot together, we know each other well and I am sure that it will be an interesting match”. However, it never happened; Tabara didn’t use maybe his last chance in Prostejov challenger. Thus Tomas Berdych is going to fight to move into the quarterfinals with Slanar, the defeater of Tabara, and Bohdan Ulihrach is going to throw down the glove to Spanish Martin. “We know each other well, Martin is a strong-willed clay player, you have to fight hard for every fifteen”, stated today Bohdan Ulihrach.
