05.06.2024 10:34:42 | The organizers of the UniCredit Czech Open will once again uphold the tradition of hosting great exhibition matches this year. Last year, the spectators were excited to watch Tomas Berdych and Jakub Mensik. This time, top mixed pairs will clash in the final program on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.: Lucie Safarova and Tomas Plekanec will challenge the pair of Kristyna Pliskova and Jan Koller.
"It will be a great honor for me because I am a big tennis fan. I believe it will be a lot of fun, and people will enjoy it. I hope I can assist Kristyna a little bit on the court," said Jan Koller, a former football great who will play alongside Kristyna Pliskova. Kristyna took a break from tennis due to motherhood, but seven years ago, she reached thirty-fifth place in the WTA rankings.
On the opposite side of the court will be Lucie Safarova, one of Prostėjov's legends. The former world number five, Olympic medalist, Roland Garros runner-up, and four-time Fed Cup winner will play alongside her husband Tomas Plekanec, a three-time hockey world championship medalist, who has played 1,001 games in the NHL.
"I've had numerous experiences in Prostėjov, and I’m looking forward to coming back to the place where I took my first big steps. I'm eager to see how it plays out, but I believe Tomas will excel at the net, particularly due to his quick reactions," said the former elite tennis player Lucie Safarova.
