07.06.2023 13:35:13 | It was clear from the first point that Argentine Facundo Bagnis would not stop the seventeen-year-old Jakub Meník on his march to the quarterfinals of the UniCredit Czech Open. The talented TK AGROFERT Prostėjov player extended his winning streak in Czech Challengers to seven consecutive matches: after triumphing in Prague in mid-May, he defeated the third seed and the former 55th ATP player Facundo Bagnis in Prostėjov and reached the quarter-finals.
Menšík was more active from the beginning and managed to break his opponent's serve, twice in the first set and three times in the second set. Having won 6:2, 6:3 he remains in the battle for the title. "I knew he is an experienced player who had ranked around top 50 ATP for many seasons. However, we made a good tactical plan and it worked out perfectly. I tried to play fast balls when returning his serve, which he really struggled with. I can play even better, this was a slightly above average performance," said Menšík in delight. "I can find a few mistakes in my game. But overall it was good enough and I hope the crowd enjoyed. I wish I will continue like that," he added.
