04.06.2022 12:06:29 | Czech tennis has won a total of eleven titles in the history of Prostějov Challenger: by triple champions Radek Štěpánek (2003, 2004 and 2013), Jan Hájek (2006, 2009 and 2010) and Jiří Veselý (2014, 2015 and 2017), and the double champion Bohdan Ulihrach (1997, 2001). The last Czech winner was Jiří Veselý in 2017. This year another Czech name will be added to the tournament statistics and become the twelfth Czech champion. It will be decided between two home players representing TK AGROFERT Prostějov: Dalibor Svrčina and Vít Kopřiva.
The Prostějov tournament will see a Czech final for the fifth time, the last one took place in 2013.
What did the finalists have to say? "The feelings are fantastic. I don't even know what to say. Considering how the match started, I'm really glad I won in the end," said Kopřiva after the match. "It was turning at the beginning of the second set when I broke my opponent’s serve and got into the match. I felt constrained in the first set, my legs weren't there and I couldn't get into it. It fortunately got better then.“
What did Svrčina have to say after the semis? "I’m already satisfied. The fact alone that I’ll play the final at home is very special for me."
