03.06.2022 13:29:08 | Tournament director Petra Černošková was very relieved after the first semifinal match as she wished Czech tennis would be represented in the final. She did not dare to think that a Czech player would lift the champion trophy after five years like Jiří Veselý did in 2017 for the last time. Dalibor Svrčina made the tournament director's wish come true and advanced to the final after beating Lukáš Klein of Slovakia in a great match. He won the first set thanks to a masterful finish and then dominated the court. He will appear in a challenger final for the second time this season.
"At the end of the first set my opponent helped me at 5:5 by making two double faults. This calmed me down and I really played well from then on. I stuck to my tactics, which worked out well," said Svrčina. He quickly took a 4:0 lead in the second set and wrapped up the match with ease. "The fourth game was extremely important. I managed to break the opponent for the second time and then the lead was really big," said the winner. Svrčina had no preference with regard to his opponent in the final match. "I know both of them well, we are good friends. I'm looking forward to the match regardless of whether I play Vít Kopřiva or Filip Horanský," said Svrčina in conclusion.
