Petra Černošková’s Wish: Next Year Without Masks and Safety Measures and With Pure Tennis Joy

19.06.2021 11:47:00 | Petra Černošková’s work will come to an end on the final day of the tournament. She has been the director for the twenty-third time. The boss of the entire event appreciated cooperation with ATP representatives as well as all members of her team. “We’ve managed everything including the hygiene station’s inspection. Yet still, I wish we will all meet in normal times next year again: without masks, measures and fully enjoying tennis,“ said Černošková.

“Of course, every tournament director wishes to have a domestic player in the final. However, I have to point out that the Czech tennis was very successful at this tournament. Besides Jiri Vesely, another ten players appeared in the main competition. David Poljak advanced from the qualification and Zdeněk Kolář fought his way through to the semis and it was a challenger of a lifetime for him. Let alone he also played the doubles final. The singles final is, of course, a matter of prestige for the organizers. It featured Alex Molčan of Slovakia who surprisingly made it that far. I really appreciate the acknowledgement from MONETA bank. We managed to cope with difficult circumstances and regulations last year and took advantage of our experience this year. We can say there was nothing that could possibly surprise us. I’m only a little bit afraid that tennis bubbles may become a standard and tournaments may be organized according to anti-Covid recipes in  future years. We have to say that all players respected the strict measures and had themselves tested in the hotel on a regular basis. However, if you take a look behind the scenes of the tournament, you’ll see that it is much quieter and emptier. Covid took the atmosphere away from sports and tennis. I believe, it will finally change next year and our tournament will be held in normal times again,“ said Petra Černošková.
