18.06.2021 10:45:48 | The Czech tennis still has an arrow in the quiver on last but one day of the MONETA Czech Open tournament: Zdeněk Kolář (ATP 236) will battle with the fourth seeded Argentinian Federico Coria (ATP 103) for the singles finals and along with Roman Jebavý for the doubles title.
Moreover, Kolář will defend the doubles title from the last year which he won in Prostějov along with Lukáš Rosol.
Before the Prostějov tournament, Coria beat Kolář 7:5 in the third set of the first round in Bratislava after which he lost to Lehečka in the next round. At MONETA Czech Open the Argentinian knocked out Haerteis of Germany 6:1, 6:0 in the first round, than Kuznetsov after a battle 6:7(0), 7:5, 6:2 in the second one and, lastly, Rola of Slovenia 6:4, 6:1 in the third round. What was Kolář’s journey to the semi-finals? He ousted Miedler of Austria 6:2, 6:2, in the first round, then Kopřiva in the Czech derby 6:3, 7:6(3) in the second one and, lastly, Kamke of Germany 6:2, 6:3 after his aggressive performance in the third round. The second semi-final match will see Alex Molcan of Slovakia (ATP 180) versus the third seeded Italian Gianluca Mager (ATP 87).
Friday will see great Czech chances and a perfect tennis program at MONETA Czech Open. The tournament will culminate with the singles final on Sunday at 10.00.
