16.06.2021 16:44:00 | The thirty-five-year-old Tobias Kamke (ATP 240) of Germany knocked out Jiří Veselý and complicated the almost free way to the semi-finals for the Czech tennis. After losing 3:6, 4:6, the Czech No. 1 lost an opportunity to win the Prostějov tournament for the forth time in his career.
“Except for the first two games I was struggling throughout the match. I tried hard to play solid but it was futile. It was not that my opponent caught me unawares. It was not about him, I lost the match myself,“ said Veselý.In the second set he leveled up in the tie-break after turning it from 1:3 to 4:3. However, Kamke broke the Czech player’s serve and wrapped up the match on his serve. “My opponent gave me a chance, but I didn’t use it. What do I have to hope for now?I hope to find my former game and self-confidence. Otherwise, I will have great problems during the season,“ said Veselý in disappointment.
The MONETA Czech Open quarter-finals will see Dalibor Svrčina who will clash with Mager of Italy for the semi-finals, and Zdeněk Kolář who will face Kamke of Germany. The winner will advance to the last four.
