Aleš Sloupenský: A Wonderful Week of Great Tennis

The 27th international tennis tournament MONETA Czech Open is coming to an end. A press conference featuring the ČTS president and Tennis Europe vice-president Ivo Kaderka, the director of MONETA Czech Open Petra Černošková, and the head of Prostějov tennis Miroslav Černošek was traditionally held before the final match.
“I strongly believe we’ll not be cornered by coronavirus and the Prostějov sports facility will become the tennis shrine again like in the previous years,” wished Aleš Sloupenský, the retail banking manager at MONETA Money Bank, before the tournament and his vision came true.
“I’s been a wonderful week with beautiful weather. We’ve enjoyed excellent tennis and I’m proud that our bank could contribute to this great event: the most professional tennis tournament in the Czech Republic. The organizational team has been doing a great job for twenty seven years and you can tell right away as soon as you enter the premises that everything works perfectly here, literally like a Swiss watch.”
The only thing that made me sad was Jiří Lehečka didn’t reach the final which would really be amazing: a great Czech hope versus the defending champion. However, he’s still played the best tournament of his career here. I’d like to thank the tournament director Petra Černošková on my own behalf and on behalf of our bank MONETA Money Bank. She and her team have done a wonderful job during these uneasy coronavirus times,“ added the retail banking manager Aleš Sloupenský, a representative of the title sponsor Moneta Money Bank. He appreciated that the tournament was be played before a crowd and attracted so many spectators. “I watched the US Open on TV a day before the final and the view of empty concrete stadium was rather depressing. On the other hand, players could enjoy the crowd’s applause here in Prostějov and were definitely happier than those in New York.”
The president of Czech Tennis Association president Ivo Kaderka was also satisfied with the quality of this year’s MONETA Czech Open tournament. “The tournament proved once again that it deserves the indication “Czech Open”. That’s the way it was, is, and will be. It’s mainly thanks to the organizers and Miroslav Černošek. They’ve done their best to hold the tournament. I wish the situation in the world settles down and that we meet here in Prostějov again in the usual term next year,” said Kaderka.
The tournament director Petra Černošková admitted that this year’s tournament was very unusual and more demanding in many respects. It was all due to the coronavirus regulations. “We sometimes called it Covid Open instead of MONETA Czech Open. I had a hundred phone calls a day and ninety nine of them regarded coronavirus. We kept talking about the number of cases and validity of tests. I believe it was for the last time and that we’ll only deal with tennis next time,” said the director of MONETA Czech Open Černošková.
