The 2018 Champion Munar Ousted in the First Round

07.09.2020 14:07:25 | Jaume Munar won the Moneta Czech Open in 2018. Then, he did not give Djere of Serbia a sniff of chance in the final and was a great surprise of the tournament whose title sponsor was MONETA Money Bank for the first time. This year, Jaume Munar met Nikola Milojevic of Serbia (ATP 145) in the first round and nobody expected that the former champion’s journey would end as early as in the first round.

The Serbian showed his strength right at the beginning of the first set when he took a quick lead to 4:0. The Spaniard played patiently and leveled up but Milojevic then won two games in a row. In the second set, the Serbian was more patient at the end of games and finally won 6:4, 6:3. Let us point out that Nikola Milojevic was the junior ITF world champion in 2013 and won his first challenger Svijany Open in Liberec last year. And Munar? He did not want to talk to the press much. “I have not played much recently.” He started the post-coronavirus season by participating in Liga MAPFRE de Tenis in Italy in the first half of July, defeated Delbonis in the first tournament in New York, which was held in replacement of Cincinnati, and was knocked out by Thiem of Austria in the first round at US Open. Since Munar was ousted, the Spain’s tennis flag is now held by the top seed Andujar and the fifth seed Pedo Martinez.
