07.06.2019 17:51:00 | MONETA Czech Open 2019 will not have a Czech champion. I became clear after the doubles final in which Jiří Lehečka and Jiří Veselý lost to Philipp Oswald and Filip Polášek 4:6, 6:7(4). The Austrian-Slovak couple were favorites. They never lost their serve in the match and, in the second set, Lehečka and Veselý did not manage to put their opponents under pressure and did not generate any break points. The eleven-times ATP titles champions were better and built on their this year’s triumphs in Lisbon and Rome.
“We have a good ranking but we still were not seeded, which is quite revealing of the tournament’s quality. It makes the victory even more valuable,” said Filip Polášek. Jiří Veselý has already won two ATP titles, Jiří Lehečka played quarter-final at the Futures tournament in Doha this year.
How did Jiří Veselý comment on the match? “The opponents were better and we were losing out today. Of all the couples we played at this tournament they were without a doubt the best one. Polášek is coming back after some time and you can tell he’s got a lot of experience. He was by far the best player on the court today.”
