Peter Torebko So Far Unstoppable

Thirty-one year old Peter Torebko has so far been the biggest surprise at the MONETA Czech Open tournament: he eliminated the second seeded Albert Ramos Vinolas. His best achievement in this year’s season has been his victory at the Futures tournament in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy. He was not even stopped by Vít Kopřiva who had a great start but Torebko eventually turned the match in his favor. How did he comment on it?
“I played Kopřiva about two weeks ago and I think I set my mind for an easy match. I really had a slower beginning: I wasn’t aggressive enough and my movement was bad. I was losing 1:4, but than I broke the opponent’s serve a few times and even had to chance to level to 5:5. Though I lost the first set but I was thinking to myself: it was tight, so I might get a chance in the second set. It was really up and down in the second set; however, it eventually went my way and I won it 6:4. In the final set I took a quick lead to 3:0 and won it 6:4. Such things just happen in tennis.”
Peter Torebko surprisingly ousted the second-seeded Ramose in the first round. “The two matches were completely different. Today I played an opponent with a great low backhand which I was not very comfortable with. That was why I had to respond with my slice which, for a change, he didn’t like. Yesterday, I played high balls down the line because I was playing a lefty and I didn’t want to let him play his forehand. It was a completely different match. I always try to find the right solution in order to win. My tactics has been successful so far and I want to get as far as possible here in Prostějov.”
