05.06.2019 10:40:53 | Jiří Lehečka (ATP 536th) was ousted in the second round in singles at the Moneta Czech Open tournament: he lost to twenty-two year old Daniel Elahi Galan who is the ninth-seeded player in Prostějov. He was world’s No. 197 in ATP ranking before the tournament and his highest career rank was the world’s No. 166. In the second set seventeen-year old Lehečka proved he that is really one of the biggest Czech tennis hopes. After the unsuccessful first set, which he lost 0:6, he had a promising chance in the tenth game of the second set. However, he did not take advantage of his lead 40:15 and four break points when his opponent was on the serve. He managed to level up from 0:4, but it was not enough for any additional set points.
“I don’t want to comment on the first set at all. In the second set, I improved my game a bit but I don’t know what to say about it. I had three set points and always made a forehand mistake. I had another one and I made a forehand mistake again. And tiebreak? I started terribly and was losing 0:4. The opponent played well and I helped him a great deal. Then I managed to get back and was leading 5:4. However, I have to admit he was more experienced and just finished the match,“ said Lehečka after the match disappointedly.
All in all, Lehečka gave the best and definitely the bravest performance of all Czechs who appeared on the Centre Court on Tuesday.
