07.06.2018 18:27:42 | In 2015, Laslo Djere of Serbia advanced to the final of the UniCredit Czech Open in which he lost to Jří Veselý. Almost nobody expected Laslo Djere to advance to the final of UniCredit Czech Open then. However, he could not beat Veselý. “I really tried hard, but I had played three tough matches against top-hundred players before the final. I spent three hours on the court yesterday and I had no energy left.
I played more than a hundred percent. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do any better. Veselý played very well. He had a big serve and managed to break mine at the very beginning. I couldn’t get into the match. I had no energy left and this was the maximum I could do. However, it has been the greatest success of my career so far,“ said Djere three years ago. Djere is well known to the local coaches in Prostějov. He was a member of TK AGROFERT team which won the Team Championship of the Czech Republic in 2013!
What about this year’s match against Pella of Argentina for the semi-finals? Djere won the first set 6:4 and was leading 5:2 in the second one. However, the Serbian won five games in a row and celebrated the victory of the second set 7:5. Both players often lost their serves, especially in the second set: Pella four times and Djere three times. What did Djere say about the match? “I started the match very well. I felt great on the court until 5:3 when I lost my serve. In the second set, I lost the focus and was two serves behind. But I rose up again and re-broke the opponent’s serve. I’m really glad that I’ll appear in the semis tomorrow.“
Djere will either face Garcia-Lopez or Gaio in the next round. Who would he prefer? “Honestly speaking, I haven’t checked who I’m going to play tomorrow yet. I’ve played Gaio twice in the past and I always defeated him. I haven’t met Guillermo yet. I’ll definitely watch their match today and we’ll see then.“
How does he like the tournament so far? “I really enjoy the tournament. It’s my second time in Prostějov. I first played here three years ago when I made it through to the final and I also defeated my first top-hundred player here. It was a very successful week and I have great memories of it.“
