02.06.2016 18:02:25 | Adam Pavlásek played a great match against Indigo Cervantes of Spain in the quarter-final of the UniCredit Czech Open. He had a match point and he was just a small step away from reaching the final four at the Prostějov Challenger. Pavlásek lost the first set in a tiebreak, won the second one 6:3, and the third set was also decided by tiebreak. The Czech player failed to take his match point and Cervantes converted his third one… It was a great pity that Pavlásek was very close to repeating his glorious performance in 2014 at which time he also reached the best four. Adam has a bad balance with the Spaniard. He lost all their head-to-head matches last year: in Prague, Ostrava, and Mersin.
What did Indigo Cervantes of Spain say about the endless quarter-final match? “It surely was a very tough match. I know Adam Pavlásek very well. We played each other three times last year and all the three matches were extremely difficult. I’m really glad I’ve made it! He also had a match point and he could have easily won too. However, I was luckier at the end and advanced to the semi-finals.“
Cervantes will meet the qualifier Fucsovics next. What does he expect from the match? “I think Fucsovics will be a very tough opponent. He can be very dangerous on all surfaces. He’ll have a lot of confidence since he has won three matches in the qualification and another three in the main event. I’ll only have a chance if I play a hundred percent.“
What does Cervantes think about the Prostějov tournament? “It’s been my first time in Prostějov. I’ve never played here before, but I knew it was one of the biggest challengers. I’ve always played well in the Czech Republic and I’m glad I got a chance to play here after I lost in the first round of Roland Garros. I’m happy I can play tomorrow’s match and I hope I will have a chance to appear one more time in the Challenger final.“
