Tomáš Papík was the only one who made it through to the second round in which he lost to the 4th seed Popek of Kazakhstan. Václav Šafránek was ousted by Fucsovics of Hungary in the second round and, in the last evening match, Jan Mertl succumbed to Areval. Therefore, Jaroslav Popíšil is the only Czech player who will appear in one today’s last four qualification matches. He is going to meet the top seeded Joao Souza of Brazil.
