Tomáš Papík was the only one who made it through to the second round in which he lost to the 4th seed Popek of Kazakhstan. Václav Šafránek was ousted by Fucsovics of Hungary in the second round and, in the last evening match, Jan Mertl succumbed to Areval. Therefore, Jaroslav Popíšil is the only Czech player who will appear in one today’s last four qualification matches. He is going to meet the top seeded Joao Souza of Brazil.
They are playing from 11.00 a.m. on court No. 1 which is Pospíšil’s favourite court. Who will appear in the three remaining matches of the qualification finals? Demolier vs. Jankovič, Londero vs. Arevalo, and Fucsovics vs. Popko. So far, there are five Czech players in the main event of the UniCredit Czech Open: Kolář and Kellovský, who have received wildcards, Pavlásek, Rosol, and the defending champion Jiří Veselý.
