05.06.2015 19:49:47 | Laslo Djere (247th ATP) is a surprising finalist of the 22nd edition of the UniCredit Czech Open. He is playing Jiří Veselý on Saturday in their first head-to-head match. The Serbian has knocked out the biggest favourite and the top seeded Martin Kližan as well as the sixth seeded Dusan Lajovic. He was not stopped by Joao Souza either. The Brazilian won the opening set in a tie-break but the freshly twenty-year-old Djere paid back in the second one. Eventually, the Serbian won the finely balanced third set 7:5. How did the defeated Joao Souza evaluate the match?
“I didn’t feel that great today. I didn’t serve well, the opponent played better and deserved to win.” In the second set tie-break Souza was winning 4:1 but he lost at the end. “I was serving at 4:1 and I knew the point was very important. I didn’t play aggressively enough and lost the rally. The opponent played flat shots deep in the court. He managed to convert his chances, especially in the third set when he won back his serve. But it’s tennis. However, I’m satisfied with my performance at the tournament. I won three matches and got some points. I have to go on and work hard.”
