In the second one, he defeated Partl of Slovakia, and in the decisive third round he knocked out the eight seeded qualifier Maxime Teixeira of France. In the main event, he first ousted the eighth seeded Kavcic of Slovenia, then Cecchinata of Italy in the second round, and finally Ghem of Brazil in the semi-finals. He was only defeated by the defending champion Jiří Veselý. “Even though I lost it’s been a successful tournament for me. I haven’t played at such a high level for a long time. I was in form and I was quite lucky to get so far in the draw,“ said Ignatik after the match.
What was the reason of his defeat? “Jiří is a very good player. He’s got more experience in such matches and he had the home-court advantage. After he lost the first set, he remained calm and I was quite tired. He played better in the two remaining sets and deserved to win.” You played in the youth category in Prostějov two years ago. What has changed since then? “It’s been a great leap from the youth to the adult category. But the tournament’s been great, one of the best I’ve ever played at.”
