04.06.2015 10:19:34 | The last two Czechs remain in the second round of the UniCredit Czech Open. Veselý struggled his way to the quarter-finals after beating the qualifier Michon of France. Unfortunately, Jan Hernych was not as successful and lost to Lajovic of Serbia. Hernych knocked out Golubjov of Kazakhstan on Monday but he did not have a chance against the more experienced Lajovic. “I didn’t play badly but Lajovic was better. He played very long balls and he didn’t let me play more offensively,“ said Hernych.
He admitted that specialized in grass tournaments and had not won many matches on clay this year. He is looking forward to Hertogenbosche, Netherlands. “Generally, I’m satisfied with my performance in Prostějov. Even though clay is not my favourite surface I managed to beat Golubjov who’s not a bad player.“
The match between the first seeded Martin Kližan of Slovakia and Laslo Djer of Serbia was a great surprise. Kližan was leading 5:1 in the first set but the young Serbian managed to turn the set in his favour by winning six games in a row! At that time, the Slovak played too carelessly. Kližan easily won the second set and took the lead 2:0 in the third one. However, Laslo Djere switched into a higher gear and surprisingly won the match on the Centre Court. The former top ranking junior, born in 1995, proved that he managed his transition to the adult category and this year’s season will be a breakthrough for him. “I’ve felt very well in Prostějov. I’m familiar with the local environment because I played for the junior team of Prostějov two years ago. Martin Kližan has been my greatest achievement so far. I’m playing our Davis Cup representative Dusan Lajovic in the next round. I will try to play my best again,“ said Laslo Djere after the match.
