01.06.2015 16:31:16 | Jiří Veselý’s first match at this year’s UniCredit Czech Open really was not to his satisfaction. He and Roman Jebavý lost to the second seeded couple Nicholas Monroe (USA), Artem Sitak (New Zealand) in super tie-break in the first round. “It’s a pity that we lost. However, it was a very important match for me. There is different clay in Prostějov as compared to Paris and we play with different balls here. I just have to adapt to different conditions. Yet still I know it pretty well here because Prostějov is my home club.“
You’re the second seeded player and the defending champion. How do you feel about that?
“It’s always very difficult but I try not think about it. I always try to concentrate on the next match. I’m playing Fucsovics whom I’ve known for a long time. We also met in junior categories. He was the junior world champion a year before me.“
Marton Fucsovics of Hungary won the junior doubles at the US Open with Peng Cheng of China. A year later, he won the singles at Wimbledon after beating Benjamin Mitchell of Australia in the finals.
“It won’t be an easy match. We’ve known each other very well. However, like I said if I want to win, I have to go match by match.“
