09.06.2007 15:01:09 | The final match of UniCredit Czech open 2007 has been watched by the full auditorium of the AGROFERT Arena. The Argentinean Sergio Roitman had entered the match more successfully; soon he was winning 4:1. When the score was 5:4, and 6:5 Roitman had a set-ball each time, however, the German Mayer managed to win both of the games, so the tiebreak had to decide. Mayer had made several unlucky mistakes after which he was loosing 1:5 and Roitman did not let the chance go away and won 1:7. In the second set at the score 3:3 Roitman had won Mayer’s serve and used this break to take the second set, 6:4. „The first set was crucial for the whole final match, I was leading but Mayer caught up, then, luckily for me, he made several unnecessary mistakes in the tiebreak,“ said the Argentinean Roitman after the ceremony. „The finals was the most difficult match for me, after all, there was much at stake. I think I was better at the baseline – and definitely I was luckier. If you want to win the title you can’t do without luck. I would also like to say thank you to the organizers, everything was wonderful here. The organization and the premises were excellent.“ The tournament director Petra Píchalová Langrová could not be absent at the press conference with the winner: „The tournament UniCredit Czech Open 2007 had a usual high standard. The only thing that Czech audience can be sad about is the absence of Czech players in the singles finals. We could see really good tennis here, the German Mayer justified the second place on the draw and Roitman showed a perfect performance at the baseline. Well prepared associated events also significantly contributed to the popularity of the tournament.“
