08.06.2013 13:35:21 | Jiri Vesely’s was only stopped in the finals of UniCredit Czech Open in which he was defeated by Radek Stepanek. It was the experience of the great Davis Cup representative that decided the match. „Unfortunately, I hasn’t been my day today. I haven’t shown my best game and Radek played with experience in the finals. He showed great tennis. Radek undoubtedly deserves his today’s victory and I have to pay tribute to him. I wasn’t aggressive enough, didn’t play well at the base line, and made many mistakes. That’s why I had to change something in the course of the game. On the other hand, Radek was in a perfect physical condition. Like I said, he deserves the victory. I greatly admire him.”
Did Jiri Vesely lack experience? “Yesterday’s match was very important for me and today’s is even more important. It surely is about experience and you must learn from such matches and only retain the positive aspects from the tournament. If somebody told me before the tournament I would play the finals here, I would’ve thought he must be crazy. The field was so strong that I have to be proud to have reached the finals. I mustn’t bother about the defeat much. It’s sport. It’s a game and I have to work hard. Radek told me after the match that what I’ve come through at this tournament is a great experience for me which can greatly help me in the future. I hope he’s right.“
