"There's nothing better that could've happened to the 20th anniversary of the tournament than a clash of the Davis Cup legend Radek Stepanek with young Jiri Vesely. Stepanek won here ten years ago. Some people asked whether there'd be enough players in the next generation to chose from after Radek's generation grows old and quit the field. We knew we had to bring up somebody like that. We've taken a number of systematic steps to support the care of Czech talents including, in particular, Jiri. If he pays it back by winning the finals and starting a similar career like Stepanek, it would be really symbolical and it would have proved the quality of the tournament as well as a generational exchange in Czech tennis. I'm going to support Czech tennis in the finals. Radek would deserve the title as a legend and Jirka would advance to the top hundred. Should the better one win!“
