06.06.2013 11:15:11 | The life of Stephane Cretois, supervisor of Prostejov Challenger, is linked to the International Tennis Federation. He has been a traditional ITF representative at World Junior Tennis Final, a team championship, which is going to be held in the Hana Region for the 5th time. How does his normal working day at the UniCredit Czech Open in Prostejov start? "You may consider it a little odd, but I listen to the classical music every morning. It calms me down. Listening to music is a nice way to start a day. Then, the players start coming and you cannot listen to the music any longer and start to pay attention to them."
How do you enjoy being the supervisor at Prostejov Challenger? "I've always appreciated the opportunity to go to Prostejov. The local tournament is sure to be flawless. Of course, you always encounter some problems. But those are usually beyond your control. Like the weather, for example. But what's most important is to keep coming back to a place where you know the people and you know them well. This is especially true of Prostejov. The local challenger as well as the junior world championship at local tennis courts are very well organized. Honestly, I like the junior tournament better because of its atmosphere. However, with my job, I cannot chose where I go to. I can only chose where I won't go to."
You mentioned the weather which really complicates this year's tournament. Has it ever been worse? "I can remember I was much worse two years ago. More matches had to be played on the Centre Court under the retractable roof. I would say, true, this year's tournament is not easy but we are very lucky because I could've been much much worse. After three days, we have played a number of matches on the outside courts and we are on schedule. Of course, the retractable roof is a great advantage because it makes it possible to play under harsh weather conditions. That's a great benefit of this challenger."
Do you mean that the retractable roof is rather special for challengers? "It's truly an exception! I have no idea whether they have anything like it at any other challenger. It's a wonderful device which by great deal makes your work easier. In fact, the device makes it possible to cope with what I said was beyond our control, the weather.
