05.06.2013 19:42:00 | Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina was only a small step from stopping Jan Hajek on his way to the UniCredit Czech Open quarterfinals. Everything was resolved in the third set. First, Hajek had a chance to extend the lead to 3:1, Dzumhur leveled up, took the lead to 3:2, was serving and could lead 4:2. But the score leveled up again at 3:3. Hajek had the advantage of serving, but he presented it, with a double fault, to Dzumhur again. He was losing 3:4, and after the exchange of the service 3:5. Hajek reduced the lead to 4:5, following which the player from Bosnia and Herzegovina was to serve for the match.
He absolutely couldn't carry to weight of the moment, he literally threw away nine fifteens and Hajek took the lead at 6:5. Dzumhur leveled up and the match was decided in the tie-break. Hajek was leading 3:1, then the score was 3:3, Hajek was leading 6:3 and converted the second match ball. And what did Hajek say after the match? "There're strong emotions after such a match which I always lost. It wasn't my day and I believe it's a greater job to win a match when it's not your day, than when it is. I'm grateful I managed to win with my heart and experience today."
And what changed compared to the first set which you won quite easily? "I broke him in the first set and then it got its momentum. It did not manage to repeat it in the second set and he improved his performance. He was a little better than me. However, I recovered my strength and I knew my chance would come. He's not such a great player to keep playing in such style till the end. In the last set, we were both nervous. I had a support from the audience which was, on the other hand, a little binding, but I wanted to win so badly. Finally, I won a very important game at 5:5 and I proved to be more experienced than the opponent in the tie-break."
