"I did not expect it either, I rather expected a close match. It was like that at the beginning, then I won some games through deuces and advantages and that was the breaking point. I started well the second set, I broke his serve. If he managed to do that, it would be quite a different thing. In the end, the result was what it was and what I wished for."
How does Jiøí Veselý value his next victory against a TOP 100 player? "It is another success of mine, to beat a TOP 100 player. Every such victory is very valuable for me and it is a very valuable experience. It is great to have a chance to play such players and even win over them. I am very grateful for such experience. I am positive that such experience will count in the future."
Winning over a TOP 100 player is one thing and how about close matches with the world top players? "The experience from matches against players such as the German Kohlschreiber at Roland Garros is priceless even if you lose. I am trying to play such matches rather not to make it an epic fail. The match with Kohlschreiber was a decent battle in four sets after all and I think it has given me some self-confidence that I will soon be able to play close matches even with such players. I still, however, have to work hard and improve my play to get to their level and to perhaps beat them one day."
Everybody keeps talking about the quality of the Prostìjov challenger. "It definitely is a tournament with a very strong cast. There is one more in Dallas but this one definitely ranks among the best. The Prostìjov challenger is however absolutely unmatched as for the organization, the level of organizers and the facilities for the players."
What does Jiøí Veselý expect from the Prostìjov tournament? "I did not set any goals, I want to play good tennis and if I play the same like I played today, I have a chance to succeed. I could achieve a few good points for the ATP ranking at this tournament."
Jiøí Veselý also has a chance to meet almost a complete Davis Cup team at the Prostìjov courts. "I am new to the team but I think that my performance shows that I would soon like to become a permanent member. That makes my motivation even stronger to achieve the best possible result at this tournament."
