Great exhibition “made in” Australia

09.06.2012 14:21:52 | Forty-seven year old Pat Cash lost to his twelve year younger fellow countryman Marek Philippoussis in a one-set match 5:7. The Wimbledon (2003) and US Open (1998) finalist, who also won the golf tournament at Kaskada on Friday, extended his collection with today’s victory on the court. Mark Philippoussis, who ended his career due to knee injury four years ago, excelled with his hard service and confident shots. His former coach Pat Cash did not lag behind in anything. “The older we grow, the more unusual our game becomes. We did not agree on any scenario, everything emerged from the situation. We sure didn’t practice anything like that when Cash was coaching me," said Philippoussis.

Cash had a moan about the fact that originally they were to play on an open court. However, the rainy weather decided that the roof over the Center Court would be closed. “The hall wasn’t arranged originally, but wasn’t is for the roof, I wouldn’t have played at all,” said sweating Cash who appeared with his typical checkered sweatband during the exhibition. He presents the fans with over a thousand sweatbands every year. “I had prepared a larger package for Prostejov, but I lost control over my bag in France and the sweatbands unfortunately became somebody else’s possession,” said Cash with a smile.
