True, Stepanek lost a set with Pavol Cervenak of Slovakia but then he played more accurate shots, broke the opponent, and dominated in the third set 2:6, 6:3, 6:0. “The opponent played well at the beginning and took advantage of my mistakes. At the beginning of the second set, I managed to return to the match and I dictated the pace till the end,“ said Stepanek who reminded the mutual match with Hajek in the finals the year before last.
“I didn’t complete the match then, but I hope it won’t happen today and we will both play good-quality tennis. One thing is for sure: it will attract people and it'll delight the tournament management that there is a Czech in the finals,“ said Radek Stepanek.
