04.06.2011 14:07:03 | Yuri Schukin became the most unexpected winner of the tournament in the history. In the final match he defeated Italian Flavio Cipolla in three sets 6:4, 4:6, 6:0. Looking at the player’s list at the beginning one could have hardly foreseen this Kazakh player as future winner. The first two sets of the final saw a fierce battle but in the last set Schukin revved up and destroyed Cippola 6:0. What did the champion say after the match? “The weather was very hot and in the second set I lost my power and didn’t feel very well. I had to take a rest, get redressed and try to concentrate more. I entered the third set with new energy and that apparently made my opponent nervous. I regained my confidence and that helped me to win. There were also a few supporters in the auditorium who cheered me up so I am happy everything turned out well in the end. If everything is OK I will come back to defend the victory next year, at first it is close to Germany, where I live, and, at second, I like it here very much. So I hope to see Prostejov next year again.”
