Full house at court 1 saw Pospisil’s hard victory

31.05.2011 16:12:00 | Crowded auditorium at court 1 saw a highly appealing battle between the last year semi-finalist Jarolav Pospisil and Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo. The Czech player was luckier at the end and won 6:3, 7:6 (6). “I had a nervous beginning, I was losing 1:3 but, luckily, the audience helped me to return back to the match. The first set finished quite quickly, however in the second one I was leading 2:0 then lost a break point to 3:0 and that was when my complications started. At the score 5:4 I had two match points, then there were about nine deuces but finally everything ended in a tie-break. In the tie-break I was leading 4:1, then losing 4:5 but fortunately managed to finish in a victory.”

How does he view his chances to defend his semi-final appearance from the last year? “It is always more difficult to defend your success than to create a new one, I try not to bother too much about it, I only want to play the best tennis I am able to play.” The audience cheered Pospisil quite audibly in the tie-break. “And not only in the tie-break, during the whole match, I want to thank all my fans and hope to deliver them joy in my next match too.”
Another Spaniard is waiting for Pospisil in the second round, this time it will be Munoz-De La Nava who knocked out seed no. 4, his fellow countryman Gimeno Travera.
