"My opponent had nothing to lose; he could only be a surprise, which enabled him to play bravely and with ease. He had nothing at stake, he played well in the first set and I experienced problems to divert three set balls. When I managed to win the first set in the end the match was over. I won his serve at the beginning of the second one and then took control over the development of the rest of the match," said Shtepanek after the second-round match. And how does he feel? " have to move forward patiently, I cannot hurry, I have to play only what my body allows me to, I have to be patient. I have miles to go before I get into the previous shape. The time will show how I will manage. I don’t know much about how I will react to the load but it is clear that after a two-month pause I cannot play as well as before the break." In the next round there is Fin Jarko Nieminen waiting for him: "It will be a very difficult match. Nieminen played excellent in Paris, he lost to Roddick in five sets and he was quite close to victory. His performance is founded on perfect physical condition, he is solid when playing from the baseline, he makes few mistakes and it is difficult to score against him."
