01.06.2010 12:16:12 | Australian Richard Fromberg and three Czechs Bohdan Ulihrach, Radek Shtepanek and Jan Hajek has already won the Prostejov’s challenger twice and the last two of them have a chance to win the prestigious UniCredit Czech Open for the third time.
However, to take over the trophy and a cheque for 15.300 EUR it is necessary to win five matches on the red clay in Prostejov. Yesterday Radek Shtepanek set on the journey towards success and today at half past twelve Jan Hajek will do the same at the central court of Agrofert Arena. He is going to clash with Argentinean Juan-Martin Aranguren. “In Prostejov the competition is traditionally tough,” said Hajek, who is the seed no. 6 and currently on the 75th position of ATP Ranking, before the match.
The today’s schedule opens with the second seed, Albert Montanes, clashing with Spaniard David Marrer. After Hajek, the Central court will host a free-card holder Robert Rumler, a young junior from Prostejov, who wasn’t lucky with the draft today - he will fight with Finn Jarkko Nieminen, UniCredit Czech Open winner of 2005. “In any case, it will be an interesting experience for Robert,” says Jaroslav Balash, sports director of Czech Tennis Association. The program at the central court will be closed by the match between the seed no. 3 Victor Hanescu (37th ATP) and Slovakian Marek Semjan.
