01.06.2010 12:06:01 | Alberto Martin wasn’t an easy opponent for Radek Shtepanek in the first round of UniCredit Czech Open. Radek won in two sets and after the match he admitted he would be afraid of the third one. "I simply don’t know what it would make with me. I want to play my best but, on the other hand, I had quite a long break," said Shtepanek after the match. "What is important for me now is whether I will be able to repeat the performance."
He added he was glad to have taken a rest after a demanding season: “It lasted for almost fifteen months on the highest level. I simply couldn’t stop. My body told me to stop and required some time to rest.”
The match was played at the AGROFERT Arena before the full audience and it was visible that Shtepanek was looking forward to it very much. “Of course, I was full of those beautiful expectations, the jitters before the match that I was missing for two and a half months. It was pleasant to return to tennis court again and I did want to succeed.” But there is no pain without gain – during the break Radek had more opportunities to do things he had little time for during the whirl of tournaments. He saw the victorious matches of Chelsea, golden joy of our national hockey team, he was meeting relatives and friends, etc. “But now I am back and I try to fully focus on tennis only again.”
