06.06.2009 14:13:31 | A traditional press conference took place prior to the final match of UniCredit Czech Open 2009. In the conference participated: director of the main sponsor UniCredit Bank Czech Republic, Mr. Jiri Kunert, president of Czech Tennis Association, Mr. Ivo Kaderka, director of the tennis club in Prostejov, Mr. Cernosek and director of the tournament, Petra Pichalova-Langrova.
“We are satisfied; the tournament was fantastically occupied and associated events proved to of high quality. It is only a pity that Radek Stepanek got injured in the first round; he would have certainly advanced high in the tournament, but fortunately there were others to substitute him. Really, amazing tournament,” said the executive manager and the chairman of the board of directors of UniCredit bank, Mr. Jiri Kunert. How did Mr. Cernosek comment on it? “Jiri, openly speaking, I must say that with respect to the existing rules of challenger tournaments, I am afraid we will hardly be to organize a tournament of higher quality.”
Director of the tournament Petra Pichalova-Langrova added: “We had the best Czech players and fifteen players from the world’s top hundred here – strong competition indeed. And what I want to emphasize is the attendance: Look at the first round for example – a match Stepanek – Cuevas, it was 11:00 a.m. and the auditorium of the central court was full.”
President of Czech Tennis Association was satisfied too: “This is the best tournament in the Czech Republic, this is Czech Open. I want to say thank you to everybody who helped to prepare this wonderful tennis celebration.”
