A home player Jan Hajek is going to clash with the Belgian Steve Darcis, who closed the door of the final to another Czech player Tomas Berdych.
The head of tennis in Prostejov, Mr. Cernosek, said on repeated occasion that according to his opinion in an ideal final a Czech player meets with a foreign star. “After Radek Stepanek got injured in the first round I believed Tomas Berdych would make it to the final. But then he fell out too. Fortunately, Jan Hajek was able to fight his way up to the final from the qualification. Everybody is supporting him and we hope he will repeat his victory from the year 2006,” said Cernosek before the final.
Hardly anybody expected Hajek and Darcis to advance to the final. Darcis did not get among the seeds and Hajek even started in qualification. What is their motivation for the match today?
