04.06.2009 15:10:02 | A player of the home club TK AGROFERT Jan Hajek is, so far, the biggest surprise of the Prostejov tournament; in the quarter finals he decisively defeated the Croatian Ljubiczicz!
“I did not expect it to be as easy as it was. Apart from the beginning of the match when Ljubiczicz was leading 3:1 and went on the serve, it was me who controlled the match. I played badly at the beginning as I was quite nervous but then I returned to my game,” said satisfied Hajek after the match. “I felt that if I manage to maintain my tactic and thus keep Ljubiczicz at the base line I have a chance to win. I wanted to eliminate his strong serving and I managed.”
It seemed that Ljubiczicz gave up at the end. “I felt it too. He tried to play root-hog-or-die, he bet everything on the first hit and when it did not work he resigned, which was perfect for me.”
In the semi-finals Hajek is going to clash with the Italian Starace, two years ago he lost to him in two sets in Gstaad. “I know how he plays and I certainly have a chance.”
