03.06.2009 19:12:09 | Tomas Berdych had had a great challenge in front of him in the second round of UniCredit Czech Open. The duel Berdych – Bellucci repeated. Last year it was Bellucci who was luckier in the end but this year Berdych managed to hit back and won 6:3, 2:6, 7:5.
“Bellucci started really aggressively but I was lucky to reverse the development soon and win the first set. It is a pity I was not able to use the chances I had in the second set, Bellucci got back to the game and everything had to be solved in the third set. The game was even and it was just two balls that decided about the match, certainly it was Bellucci’s short ball that I managed to return, that one was especially decisive .... also patience was very important in the end, a good serve was not enough, I tried to play more aggressively at the end and it came off well.”
What does he say about the level of the tournament?
“The quality of matches grows with every round. It only confirms the fact that the tournament is very well occupied.”
And what about the quarterfinal match against Klizan, the junior winner of Rolland Garros 2007 and finalist in junior doubles in Wimbledon in the same year, European 16-year champion?
“He defeated Minar, he must have played very well, I haven’t seen the match. I am going to play my game and I believe I will assert myself ...”
