07.06.2008 11:45:48 | Traditional press conference with the main partners’ representatives took place as usual before the final duel of UniCredit Czech Open. Jiri Kunert, chief executive and chairman of UniCredit Bank, Ivo Kaderka, president of the Czech Tennis Association, Miroslav Cernosek, managing director of TK PLUS spoke about the prospects of the Prostejov tournament.
At the beginning Mr. Kunert confirmed prolonging the contract between the bank and the tournament for another three years. “It is obvious that this year was the best one as far as the presence of top players is concerned. Of course, we had wished the Czech players to assert themselves more; I had secretly hoped Tomas Berdych would play the finals, however, Brazilian Bellucci had had a different opinion”, stated Mr. Cernosek at the press conference.
“It makes me very happy that our associated events could host many celebrities and had high standard again. We hosted the Prime minister (on the photo with the former No. 1 Jim Courier), several members of the government, representatives of the best Czech companies, in the golf tournament took part a former athletics legend Carl Lewis and also former world top players Jim Courier and Richard Krajicek – and that is what provides our tournament with a hallmark of prestige.”
